Abstract
PURPOSE:To improve the space factor of a coil in a stabilizer for a discharge lamp by winding an electric wire of circular cross section on a bobbin, inserting it into an iron core leg or a mold of the same cross section as the leg, and pressurizing it from the periphery. CONSTITUTION:An enameled wire of circular cross section is wound to form a coil 13. An iron core leg 2 or mold 14 of the same cross section as the leg 2 is inserted into the coil 13, the coil 13 is placed on a bench 15, is compressed by a push metal 16, and the coil is then turned at 90 deg. to compress the coil. The coil may be compressed simultaneously on four peripheries. According to this configuration, the winding position of the enameled wire 12 is initially displaced to press-fit an interlayer paper 17 between the wires so as to reduce the gap therebetween. When the coil is further compressed, the enameled wire itself is compressed to be deformed into an elliptical shape so as to reduce the cross sectional area of the coil. The space factor of the enameled wire is improved merely by compressing the coil to enable reduction of the cross sectional area of the coil so as to shorten the length of the coil. Accordingly, it can reduce the size of the iron core of the coil and obtain a stabilizer for a small-sized discharge lamp.
