Abstract

PURPOSE: To prevent the wire electrode from being bent at its cut end and obtain a sure automatic insertion of its cut end into a working prepared hole by a method wherein the wire electrode for a wire-cut electric discharge machining is blown with compressed air or the like to remove the deposits and then heat-hardened to be cut off.
CONSTITUTION: Upon the completion of wire-cut electric discharge machining, the wire electrode 15 is blown with the compressed air from a compressor 24 through a compressed air injector 25 to remove the deposits such as working fluid and the like. Then the wire electrode is heightend its rigidity by being heated with the transmission of electric current and also heightened its linearity at the time of its being pulled off because of no deposits on the wire electrode making it possible to be heated uniformly to keep its linearity. Next, the wire electrode 15 is cut off by a wire cutter 16 and a head is elevated to move tables 20 and 21 for positioning the next working prepared hole of a workpiece 17 under the head. Then the head is lowered to perform the automatic insertion of the wire electrode into the next working prepared hole of the workpiece 17. As the cut end of the wire electrode is kept in a straight line form, the automatic insertion of the wire electrode into the hole is performed surely.
