Abstract

PURPOSE: To enhance the stress corrosion crack resistance at high temp. by soaking an Al-Mg alloy ingot consisting essentially of a specified amount of Mg and Zn and further contg. Si, Cu, Mn, Cr, etc. and by heating and cooling after hot rolling and cold rolling.
CONSTITUTION: An Al-Mg alloy ingot consisting essentially of 2W8% Mg and 0.8W8.5% Zn and further contg., by wt., ≥1 kinds among 0.8W1% Si, 0.2W2.5% Cu, 0.05W1.5% Mn, 0.05W0.8% Cr, 0.05W0.8% Zr, 0.02W0.2% Ti, 0.01W0.1% V, 0.01W0.2% Mo, <0.1% Bi and 0.0001W0.08% B is soaked at 480W580°C for 2W24hr, hot rolled, cold rolled, heated at 450W800°C for 0.5W2hr and cooled to 100°C at ≤600°C/min rate.
