Abstract

PURPOSE: To obtain an alloy for electric heating having austenite structure, a long endurance life against repeating use at high temp. and superior oxidation resistance by adding Al to an Fe-Ni-Cr type heat and oxidation resistant steel.
CONSTITUTION: This Fe-Ni-Cr-Al alloy as an alloy for electric heating consists of <0.2% C, <1.0% Si, <1.0% Mn, 18W45% Ni, 15W25% Cr, 2.5W4.5% Al and the balance Fe. Since the structure of this alloy is austenite, the alloy can be worked into various forms, shows high temp. strength, and is provided with superior oxidation resistance at high temp. by forming an Al2O3 protective film. In addition, it has superior characteristics as an alloy for electric heating and is relatively cheap.
