Abstract

PURPOSE: To control the resonance of a brake by providing radial ribs and subribs in the peripheral direction and thereby increasing the stiffness of the rotor in the peripheral direction in the ventilated-type rotor.
CONSTITUTION: The ribs 4 extending radially are provided at the same pitch between the pressure-contact parts 2a and 3a of discs 2 and 3 respectively, while the subribs 10 are provided in the direction of the circumference of the discs 2 and 3. The subribs 10 are formed in such a manner that they form a type of a letter T approximately together with the ribs 4 by extending them to either the end part of the outside diameter of the ribs 4 or the end part of the inside diameter thereof. By this constitution, the natural frequency of the rotor 1 at the time of operation of the brake is made different from the frequencies of a brake pad, a caliper and a car body and thereby the resonance of the rotor 1 can be prevented.
