Abstract
PURPOSE:To impart variable means for controlling developing density, i.e., image density to a developing device itself, by providing a variable means for controlling layer thickness of a one-component type developer held in a layer on a developer bearing roller and applied to a latent image bearing drum surface. CONSTITUTION:A latent image on electrostatic drum 1 is developed with a developer layer on a developer bearing roller consisting of a nonmagnetic conductive sleeve in developing section A. This sleeve 12 is provided with hopper 4 containing one-component type developer 7. This hopper is provided with partition wall 6, and developer 7 on sleeve 2 is stripped off with blade 8, and fed through opening 61 to developer tank 71. Clearance is regulated with blade 5 attached to the end of front wall 41 of hopper 4 to control the developer layer thickness on sleeve 2, thus permitting image density controlling function to be obtained.
