Abstract
PURPOSE: To provide a drooping torque characteristic, by arranging axially directional grooves for changing a distribution of magnetic flux for the circumferential direction on the inner circumference of a cylinder and outer circumference of a rotor and adding the characteristic of an eddy current coupling that generates its current on the basis of a change of distribution of magnetic flux.
CONSTITUTION: On the inner circumference of a cylinder 8 and outer circumference of a rotor 11, axially directional grooves 13, 14 for changing a distribution of magnetic flux for the circumferential direction are arranged to enlarge the depth for the magnetic flux in the rotor 11 to intrude and increase a number of the magnetic flux passing through the part of the rotor groove 14. In this way, when a relative speed difference is developed between the cylinder 8 and the rotor 11, eddy currents according to said difference are generated on the both circumferential surfaces arranged in a face-to-face relation, and the distribution of magnetic flux density in its circumferential direction is as shown in the drawing. Accordingly, a clutch tends to show its characteristic in which the drooping torque characteristic of an eddy current coupling is overlapped on the constant torque characteristic as a powder clutch, finally a compound torque characteristic of the both kinds of clutch characteristic, that is, the drooping torque characteristic as shown by If1, If2 in the drawing can be obtained.
