Abstract

PURPOSE:To prevent the development of an overvoltage in switching and to improve response, by controlling the phase of the ignition signal of a thyristor switch for the polarity switching of a compensating voltage so that a commutated current in switching is reduced. CONSTITUTION:Alternating current voltage V1 inputted between terminals 1 and 2 is applied to the primary winding 3a of transformer 3 and also applied to load 5 via the primary winding of transformer 4. Across the secondary winding 3b of transformer 3, thyristor switches 6-1-6-4 are bridge-connected and its output is applied to the secondary winding 4b of transformer 4. Voltage V2 applied to load 5, after having the fluctuating voltage detected by detecting circuit 8, is compared with predetermined reference voltages by comparing circuits 10-1 and 10-2 and a pulse leading in phase by some quantity is generated by pulse generating circuit 9. Consequently, output circuit 13 outputs signals selectively to ignite thyristors 6-1- 6-4. In the transition of this ignition, commutated current I4 flows and current IL1 of load 5 flows continuously, so that the rapid response of compensation to the voltage fluctuations can be obtained.
