Abstract

PURPOSE:To improve the shelf stability and fluidity of a toner and almost prevent the formation of a toner film on the surfaces of a photoreceptor and a carrier by sticking a specified amount of silane-treated silica fine powder to the outside of the toner. CONSTITUTION:Finely powdered silica treated with a silane coupling agent such as aminosilane or chlorosilane is stuck to the outside of toner particles contg. a binder resin, a colorant, etc. by 0.05-5wt% to the total amount of the resulting toner. The particle size of the silica is 0.01-1mu and smaller than that of the toner particles. The pulverized toner particles and the treated silica powder are fed into an electric furnace by spraying, sphered, and classified. They may be mixed well with a supermixer. The resulting toner gives a clear transferred image even on ordinary paper and does not cause unevenness in the image and ground fog. In addition, a developer contg. this toner is held stably.
