Abstract

PURPOSE:To facilitate processings adapted to the data volume and the data word length, by giving the common instruction to respective processing elements of a two- dimensional arrangement from the external of the array operating part and by storing the status signal in each processing element to designate operations at the operation time. CONSTITUTION:Plural processing elements 2 of a two-dimensional arrangement are controlled by the same instruction from the external to perform the data processing. In the serial operation, operation 7 is performed on a basis of data of memory parts 5 and 6 and the carry signal at the preceding operation time, which is input from register 8 through 11, as shown in figure (a), and the result is written into memory part 6 through 9, and the carry signal is written into register 8 through 10. In the parallel operation, input and output 11 and 10 of the carry signal are related to adjacent elements as shown in figures (b) and (c), and the operation result is output to the adjacent element through 12, and data is input from the adjacent element through 13.
