Abstract

PURPOSE:To select a parameter so that while intervals of a reentrant frequency are greater than passing band width, the reentrant frequency is not in the passing band in terms of an elastic surface wave filter consisting of a piezoelectric substrate conducting a surface wave and reed screen type double electrodes. CONSTITUTION:The elastic surface wave filter consists of piezoelectric substrate 21 where surface wave 25 propagates and reed screen type double electrodes 22 provided to the surface of piezoelectric substrate 21. Further, depressions 13 appear because of out-of-phase coupling between volume wave 26, reflected several times, and surface wave 25. When the wavelength of the surface wave in the passing band, the repetitive period of each electrode finger constituting the reed screen type double electrodes, reentrant frequency and the period of depressions are denoted by lambda, (p), fR and DELTAfR, p/lambda should be greater than 0.5 and DELTAfR is made greater than the passing band width. Further, setting thickness (b) of the piezoelectric substrate and p/lambda to 0.78 is preferable so that fR will not be in the passing band.
