Abstract
PURPOSE:To raise a separating efficiency of two optical signals of different wave- length, by controlling an input side equipment so that the number of modes of two signals which are made incident to the mode filter is separated suitably. CONSTITUTION:A signal 13 containing a lot of lower modes and having a light wave-length lambda1, which has been output by the light source 11, and a signal 14 containing a lot of higher modes and having a light wave-length lambda2, which has been output by the light source 12 are input to the light transmission line 16 through the condenser 15. In this case, the signal 13 is scarcely mode-converted by the condenser 15, but the signal 14 is mode-converted and is input to the transmission line 16 as an optical signal which almost consists of higher modes only. And, they are separated to a signal of higher mode and that of lower mode by the mode filter 17, and also is separated by the wave-length filter, as well.
