Abstract
PURPOSE:To easily obtain a core with high accuracy by irradiating the position corresponding to the guide groove for plural optical fibers of sensitive glass so that it is exposed to light, and subsequently forming the guide groove by removing the glass of the exposed part. CONSTITUTION:A sensitive glass substrate 5 which is used for the core for the optical connector member is formed by mixing prescribed raw materials and sintering them. Subsequently, the mask 7 having a slit is placed at the position corresponding to the U-grooves 6, 6 of the guide by which the clad 2 of the optical fiber 1 is fitted into the substrate 5, and the part of grooves 6, 6 of the substrate 5 is exposed by irradiating the part which becomes said grooves 6, 6, by a light beam. After that, after this substrate has been burnt, the sensitive part is etching-removed by hyrofluoric acid, and the substrate 9 on which the grooves 6, 6 have been formed is obtained. Subsequently, the clad 2-2 parts which have peeled off the coating of lots of optical fibers 1-1 are fitted into the grooves 6-6 of said core substrate 9, and they are made to adhere and are fixed. After that, the substrate 5, 9, 9 are piled as shown in the figure, are made to adhere and are fixed, by which the core 10 is formed.
