Abstract
PURPOSE:To realize an easy connection, a miniaturization of system and others, by using a base board having plural numbers of through-holes to ensure a connection between an optical fiber and the area between an optical transmitter and receiver. CONSTITUTION:The rod lens 3 is stored in each of plural numbers of through-holes 2 provided on the base board 1, and the optical fiber 4 is attached via an adhesive at a face of the base board. The both end faces of the optical fiber are adhered to one end face of the lens 3. The figure 5 shows an optical module which is stored in a DIP-shape case of the IC in which both the optical transmitter and receiver are integrated. This optical module has the rod lens 6 in place of a metal terminal. A connection is secured between the optical module 5 and the light transmission line by placing the end face of each rod lens opposite to each other. A rod-shaped optical branching lens is used when necessary in place of the lens 3 in order to seal the optical fiber into a bus form.
