Abstract

PURPOSE:To enable measurement of a load even in a narrow space of installation by detecting a lateral strain caused in the peripheral side surface of the main body by the load of an object of measurement by means of a strain gauge. CONSTITUTION:The main body 18 of the load-detecting device is formed into a column and has a round load-receiving seat 19 forming a surface receiving the load of the object of measurement and a peripheral side surface 20 perpendicular to the seat 19. The load of the object of measurement being received by the load-receiving seat 19 and the lateral strain caused thereby in the peripheral side surface 20 of the main body 18 is detected by strain gauges 21, 22, 23 and 24 and outputted as an electric signal through the intermediary of a bridge circuit 26 and an output terminal. Based on the calibrated value of the load and strain, the load of the object of measurement is detected.
