Abstract

PURPOSE:To readily measure the anionic polymer concenctration of a liquid being inspected, by passing it through a thin transparent tube filled with CaCO3 powder before passing a toluidine blue solution through the tube and measuring the length of the formed colored zone. CONSTITUTION:In the lower part of a thin trasparent tube 1 of glass or the like, a support material 6 having water permeability, such as glass wool, is provided, and thereon powdered calcium carbonate 2 of the order of 100-400 mesh is filled to a proper length. Then, at the bottom of the thin tube 1, an eluate reservoir 3 is provided and connected to a suction apparatus 4. Under suction, a liquid whose anionic polymer concentration is to be meausred is passed through the thin tube 1, and then a toluidine blue solution is passed therethrough. Thereby, a colored zone 5 having a length corresponding to the anionic polymer concentration of the liquid being inspected can be obtained. The length is measured and compared with the length in the case of using an anionic polymer solution of known concentration in order to measure the concentration.
