Abstract

PURPOSE: To print a desired pattern in a dry and contactless manner by a method wherein a laser beam is irradiated onto printing paper having a smooth printing ink coat layer on its surface so as to strip the ink.
CONSTITUTION: The output light of a laser oscillator 1 such as of argon ion laser is modulated in intensity by an intensity modulator according to image signals, and irradiated onto printing paper 5 through a focusing lens 4, the paper 5 comprising white art paper coated on its whole surface with black ink. The paper 5 held on the surface of a cylinder 6, which is rotated by a motor 7 and moved vertically for scanning of the whole surface of the paper 5. It is posible to use paper coated on its whole surface with chromatic color ink as the printing paper 5 and to use a laser oscillator which emits laser light of a color complementary to the color of the ink.
