Abstract

PURPOSE: To improve efficiency of a heat pipe heat exchanger, by employing an arrangement in which a plurality of heat pipes are disposed in parallel with a rotatable shaft, with their upper and lower ends being fixed to respective end plates, and a rotary member having a partition plate fixed at an intermediate portion between the upper and lower end plates is placed in a corner column casing having partition walls extending from each corner toward the axis of said casing.
CONSTITUTION: Gas, drawn from gas inlet port 10 into four chambers of upper gas chamber 25 by means of turning blades 11, is discharged continuously and in large quantity from outlet port 27 disposed upwardly of said four chambers, after absorbing heat from heat pipes 2 having fins fixed thereto. On the other hand, high- temperature liquid is introduced into lower chamber 24 from inlet port 16 and deprived of heat by heat pipes 2 having baffles 14, 15. The high-temperature liquid is then discharged to the outside from liquid outlet port 17, while causing its temperature drop and after flowing vertically through the lower chamber 24 and passing through a long way including passages Y, Z and chambers defined by baffles 13, 14, 15. With such an arrangement, heat transmitting efficiency of the heat exchanger can be improved by the long heat transmitting passages and a large heat transmitting area.
