Abstract

PURPOSE: To adduct of isomerized α-pinene and diphenol is made to react with formaldehyde in the presence of a basic catalyst, thus producing title resin that can be suitably used for laminates because of its high punchability and electric insulation.
CONSTITUTION: (A) the adduct of isomerized α-pinene with diphenol of the formula is made to react with (B) fromaldehyde in the presence of a basic catalyst, preferably a strongly basic amine. The molar ratios of the components are as follows: B/A=2.2W4.2 and C/A=0.08W0.5.
