Abstract
PURPOSE: To enable long-term continuous operation and economically recover hydrogen from coke oven gas by contacting the coke oven gas to activated carbon and adsorption-separating hydrogen with zeolite.
CONSTITUTION: Coke oven gas is contacted to activated carbon to remove trace amts. of pollutants, and hydrogen is recovered from the gas by adsorption separating operation using zeolite as an adsorbent as follows: the gas is passed through a fixed bed of zeolite at ordinary temp. or below under ordinary press. or above to adsorption-separate the constituents of the gas other than hydrogen, and the hydrogen flowing out of the bed is recovered. When the zeolite reaches saturation adsorption, it is regenerated to repeat adsorption. At this time, a plurality of adsorption beds are parallelly arranged and operated so that zeolite is regenerated in one bed and adsorption is carried out in other bed, thus continuously recovering hydrogen.
