Abstract

PURPOSE:To readily perform fine adjustment of branching intervals with ease by using single-molde fibers of eccentric cores and rotating both or one of the two optical fibers with respect to the central axis. CONSTITUTION:The central axes of the cores 5, 5' of single-mode optical fibers 3, 3' are deviated from the central axes of clads 6, 6'. The hole opened at the center of a support means 7 is made to the size at which the side faces of the single- mode optical fibers 3, 3' closely contact and the single-mode optical fibers 3, 3' are capable of rotating independently about the central axis of each optical fiber. Manually turning the optical fibers 3, 3' enables the distance between the cores 5, 5' to be finely adjusted. Because of this, the degree of coupling of the coupling part 4 of the single fibers 3, 3' may be readily changed and the wave length intervals of the light outputted from output terminals 2, 2' finely adjusted.
