Abstract
PURPOSE:To greatly increase coercive force by incorporating a minor amount of element such as B or C into an alloy consisting of metal selected from one or more of rare earth elements and metal selected from the group consisting of transition elements including Co. CONSTITUTION:An alloy R.Mz (z=6.8-9.0) consists or R selected from one or more of rare earth elements and M selected from the group of transistion elements including at least Co. In the alloy R.Mz, a part of M is replaced by one or more of elements selected from B, C, S, Si, and P in an atomic ratio of 0.002-0.15, thereby forming a magnet. Thus, the alloy having composition Sm(Co, Fe, Cu, Zr) as the intermetallic compound R.Mz is used. Each of the contents in the parethesis is 0.72, 0.15, 0.10, and 0.03. Further, the composition of an alloy to be mixed with the above alloy is specified as Sm(Co, Fe, Cu, Zr, Bx); i.e., the composition in which a part of the above Co has been replaced by B in amount of x=0.006- 0.20.
