Abstract
PURPOSE:To improve the liquid tightness of sealing by impregnating the brazed seal, which us provided to the wall of battery vessel, with alkali-proof fluid. CONSTITUTION:The electrode 2 is penetrated into the battery through the iron cover 1, a ring-wise ceramic body 3 is provided between the cover abd electrode. The outer and inner surfaces of ceramic bodt are previously treated by metal coating, and the seal 4 is formed by brazing. The upper surface a of the hermetic seal is coated with a very small amount of melted resin, the ceramic body and seal are vacuum-impregnated with the melted resin by exhausting air from the lower side of surface. For the melted resin, synthetic resins such as alkali-proof epoxy and silicon resins which are melted by heating or with solvent are used.
