Abstract

PURPOSE: To simplify the entire structure of an internal combustion engine with supercharger, by providing a waste gate valve for by-passing superfluous exhaust gas in the housing intergrally with the same.
CONSTITUTION: A by-pass passage 7 for by-passing exhaust gas is formed in turbine 72 of supercharger and a waste gate valve 71 is disposed at a branching portion of the passage 7. Servo-mechanism A1 for controlling the valve 71 is formed integrally in housing 21 for compressor of the supercharger. The servo-mechanism A1 consists of a diaphragm 23 connected to rod 28 of valve 71 and a spring 29 adapted for urging the diaphragm 23, and compressed air from compressor is introduced via passages 30a, 30b into pressure chamber 26 located on the opposite side of spring 29. By the pressure of compressed air applied in chamber 26, valve 71 is opened and closed for controlling the amount of exhaust gas circulated to the turbine.
