Abstract
PURPOSE:To extremely easily release the scale formed while the annealing process in the pickling bath, the pretreating the surface of stainless steel with the aqueous solution of iron chlorides at annealing the Cr stainless steel. CONSTITUTION:In case of annealing the Cr stainless steel including Cr more than 10% like as the ferrite stainless steel, martensite stainless steel, etc., the metal surface is previously treated with aqueous solution of FeCl2 or FeCl3. In case of employing FeCl2, the concentration of FeCl2 of the aqueous solution is specified to 2-15%; in case of FeCl3, the concentration of FeCl3 is specified to 1.2-15%. After immersing the stainless steel in this solution, the Cr stainless steel is dried up and is annealed at 600-950 deg.C. While this anealing process, chlorine gas is generated from the decomposition of chlorides, forming a scale excellent in the release property; hereby, the scale is easily released by the treatment with the 17.5% hydrochloric acid bath at 80-90 deg.C. The decomposition of chlorides generates Fe which reacts on O2 included in the atmosphere, and diminishes amount of the scale to be formed on the surface of the stainless steel.
