Abstract

PURPOSE:To improve frequency-temperature characteristics of a thickness-sliding inflection crystal vibrator by appropriately setting the side ratio of the vibrator. CONSTITUTION:Of a Y plate turned on the X axis by approximate 35 degrees, a crystal vibrator of (x0) in width, (y0) in thickness and (z0) in length is formed. At this time, setting its size with a ratio of width to thickness between 9.0 and 13.5 makes this vibrator cause not pure thickness-sliding vibration but thickness-sliding inflection vibration with combined inflection vibration, so that its frequency-temperature characteristics will be flat. Further, this vibrator is of the largest size in the Z'-axial direction and supporting it in the Z'-axial direction (z0 direction) makes it possible to reduce an energy loss at the support point. In this way, a miniature thickness-sliding inflection crystal vibrator with excellent frequency-temperature characteristics can be obtained by appropriately setting its side ratio.
