Abstract
NEW MATERIAL:A compound of formula I (R1 and R2 are lower alkyl groups).
EXAMPLE: Methyl 5-methyl-1,4-thiazan-3-carboxylate.
USE: An intermediate for the synthesis of cycloalliin[5-(S)-methyl-1,4-thiazan-3(R)- carboxylic acid-1(S)-oxide] and its fomolog, which is an antithrombotic and a remedy for arteriosclerosis, having a fibrinolytic action.
PROCESS: A compound of formula II is reacted with a compound of formula III: (X is halogen) in the presence of a base, and preferably a dehydrating agent, in a solvent, e.g. methanol, at room temperature, preferably 0W5°C, to give a compound of formula V. The C=N bond of the compound thus obtained is reduced. With an agent, e.g. sodium borohydride, to give the objective compound of formula I having the C-N bond.
