Abstract
PURPOSE: To improve output and fuel consumption by permitting a partial flow produced by a throttle valve to be trapped in a suitable place in the neighborhood of an intake valve and also permitting air-fuel mixture withdrawn into a combustion chamber to be increased without increasing the resistance.
CONSTITUTION: In low and medium load operation ranges, air-fuel mixture supplied from a carbouretor 1 passes through an auxiliary intake port 5a in the form of a spiral vortes produced with stronger partial flow caused by a throttle valve 7, and is guided along a partition wall 9 and led from an intake valve 4 in a direction to cause a spiral vortex in a combustion chamber 10. In high and medium operating ranges, part of the partial flow formed by the valve 4 also passes through a main intake port 5a, while air-fuel mixture as a stronger partial flow at a greater speed passes through the port 5b, while air-fuel mixture, which low in flow speed but increases in rate of flow with increase of the load, passes through the port 5a and is re-directed along a curved surface 8a toward the combustion chamber 10. This flow, however, is re-directed at the outlet of the port 5b by the flow having passed through the port 5a without impinging upon the curved surface 8a and enters the chamber 10 in a great quantity.
