Abstract

PURPOSE: To improve the starting characteristic of a fluorescent lamp and protect the generation of pockmarks thereof by giving larger electrostatic capacity to the fluorescent film at both ends of the tube than to that at the center thereof.
CONSTITUTION: The nesa film 6 is let to be distributed uniformly along the longitudinal direction of a glass tube 1 in a fluorescent lamp. Regarding the electrostatic capacity C of a fluorescent film 7, for example, 0.006 μF/cm is specified around the center of the tube, while 0.012 μF/cm is at both ends. In this method the potential E between the cohesive mercury and the nesa film in the tube of the fluorescent lamp takes the minimmum in the central part and the nearer the measuring point goes to both ends the higher its potential becomes and the generation of pockmarks can be protected.
