Abstract

PURPOSE: To simplify the construction of a vertical sie caster and raise the efficiency of work, by providing an injection mechanism on a moving die base and opening and closing a seal-up mechanism mounted on a fixed die base.
CONSTITUTION: A moving die 19 is moved down and tightly fitted on a fixed die 18 by a cylinder 6. A seal-up piston 14 is then pushed down to disconnect the bottom of aninjection sleeve 8 from the gate D of the fixed die 18. A necessary quantity of molten material is poured into the injection sleeve 8. When an injection piston 11 is moved down, the bottom of the injection sleeve 8 is connected to the gate D of the fixed die 18 to conduct the molten material into a cavity B in the form of a product. Af the the molten material is solidified, the moving die 19 is moved up. After that time, the injection piston 11 pushes down a solidified material out of the injection sleeve 8 by the remaining travel of an injection cylinder 9 but the product is left in the fixed die 18. After the separation of the moving die 19 is finished, the product is pushed out of the fixed die 18.
