Abstract
PURPOSE: To remove carbon monoxide from the briquet combustion gas by installing an oxidation apparatus body having a combustion gas guide passage below a catalyst holder, together with an air inlet passage opened into the guide passage, and a baffle member for pointing the combustion gas flow towards the air inlet passage.
CONSTITUTION: Combustion gas 19 rises in a combustion gas guide passage 17. The gas rising in the part towards the center of the guide passage 17 is deflected outward by a baffle member 20, so that the gas rises through a gap between the baffle member 20 and a tapered cylindrical body 11, and reaches the inside of a cylindrical body 13 through the upper end opening between the first and second tapered cylindrical bodies 11 and 12. Since the combustion gas is at a high temperature, a temperature difference occurs between the upper and lower end openings of an air inlet passage 18, and an ascending current is produced, so that the secondary air is sucked into the air inlet passage 18, and mixed with the combustion gas above the baffle member 20 in the combustion gas guide passage 17, before contacting with a catalyst layer 6. Thus, carbon monixide in the combustion gas, which forms carbon dioxide, can be removed.
