Abstract

PURPOSE: To achieve the less works of jam paper treatment and the higher reliability of the device by forming the conveying route differing from an ordinary transfer paper course and expelling the transfer paper conveyed into the device when a jam occurs in the device.

CONSTITUTION: When a jam occurs in a fixing device, a signal causes a clutch 29 to be disconnected instantaneously, by which the fixing device 20 is stopped. At the same time, a guide pawl 35 is turned to the alternate long and short dash line position and paper feed rollers 14 stop upon finishing of feeding the transfer paper under feeding. The other transfer paper conveying members keep operating, so that the succeeding paper is discharged to a mis copy tray 40 by the guide pawl 35. When a jam occurs outside the fixing part, the devices other than the fixing device 20 stop and the fixing part 20 also stops after it has sent out the transfer paper which is passing in its inside. When the jam paper is removed and a reset button is pushed, the guide pawl 35 turns and the device starts idling to discharge all the sheets of the transfer paper onto the tray 40. In this way, the works of jam paper treatement are reduced and th reliability of the device improves.
