Abstract

PURPOSE: To obtain a flame-retardant compsn. useful for vehicle aircraft, electrical part, building material. etc., by a method wherein a cellulosic flame-retarded filler composed of a cellulosic material to which a condensed ammonium phosphate is chemically or physically bonded, is blended with a resin or a cementing material.
CONSTITUTION: A cellulosic flame-retarded filler (B) composed of a cellulosic material (c) to which a condensed ammonium phosphate (d) is chemically or physically bonded, is blended with a resin (a) or a cementing material (b) to obtain a flame-retardant compsn. Examples of (c) are wood flour, pulp fiber, cotton fiber and rayon fiber. Pref. the cpd. of (d) having a degree of condensation of 1W60 is used as an aq. soln. of 5W40wt% of the cpd and in an amount of 10W30pts.wt. per 100pts.wt. of (c). Examples of (a) are thermoplastic or thermosetting resins. Pref. 50W500pts.wt. of (B) per 100pts.wt. of (a) is used, or 20W200pts.wt. of (B) per 100pts.wt. of (b) is used.
