Abstract

PURPOSE:To improve wave-transmitting sensitivity and wave-receiving sensitivity by forming a wave-transmitting longitudinal vibrator and wave-receiving vibrator in a body as to an underwater acoustic detector. CONSTITUTION:Four piezoelectric or electrostrictive materials 2 are connected in parallel and stacked and metal elastic bodies 3 and 4 are bonded to both the ends to form wave-transmitting longitudinal vibrator 1, and piezoelectric sheet 10 provided with positive and negative electrodes on the top and reverse surfaces of a polymer piezoelectric matrial is bonded to thin disk cylindrical elastic body 9 to form a wave- receiving vibrator. Then, when vibrator 1 is driven at a resonance frequency from lead wires 5 and 6, vibration-directional resonance comes into effect and both the flanks are bellys while the center part is a node. As vibrator 1 contracts, elastic body 9 of the wave-receiving vibrator expands and as vibrator expands, elastic body 9 contracts; and sheet 10 deforms correspondingly to develop an output voltage between lead wires 11 and 12.
