Abstract
PURPOSE: To enable rapid expansion and slow retraction, by push-opening a U- shaped packing to cause a free flow in the expansion of a piston and using a choke hole to cause a limited flow in the retraction of the piston.
CONSTITUTION: When pressurized oil is introduced into an inlet/outlet opening 14, the pressurized oil hardly passes through a choke hole 16 but flows into an empty chamber 12 behind a U-shaped packing 13 through an oil passage 15. The oil reduces the cross section of the U-shaped packing 13 so that the oil freely flows on both the sides of the packing and enters into a cylinder barrel 2. As a result, a piston 3 is rapidly expanded by pressure in opposition to a spring 9. When the oil is drained through the inlet/outlet opening 14, the oil in the cylinder barrel 2 is pressurized by the tension of the spring 9 and the cross section of the U-shaped packing 13 is increased by the pressure of the oil and the packing comes into contact with an enlarged part 5 and a projecting part 11 to seal them up. As a result, the oil passes through the choke hole 16 and performs slow limited flowing to the opening 14 and the piston 3 is slowly retracted.
