Abstract
PURPOSE: To provide the title composition of good steam resistance, adherence, and low-temperature curability, comprising a specific polybutadiene-modified vinyl resin and an epoxy resin.
CONSTITUTION: The objective composition comprising (1) 95W80 wt.% of a polybutadiene-modified vinyl resin and (2) 5W20 wt.% of an epoxy resin such as e.g. a bisphenol type one. Said vinyl resin can be prepared by incorporating (A) 30W70 wt.% of 1,4-cis-polybutadiene having a weight-average molecular weight of approximately 500W5000, with (B) 5W20 wt.% of an α, β-monoethylenic unsaturated carboxylic acid, and (C) a copolymerizable unsaturated monomer such as a hydroxy alkyl acrylate in an amount so that the tatal of the ingredients accounts for 100 wt.%, followed by radically-catalysed graft polymerization.
