Abstract

PURPOSE: To check and analyze an airtight part of engine through simple eperation with high accuracy, by electrically detecting the pressure fluctuation in the airtight part.
CONSTITUTION: A piston PS is fitted in a cylinder SL of the engine. A mixture is sucked from an intake manifold IM into a combustion chamber B. Combustion gas is ehausted from the combustion chamber through an exhaust manifold EM. A pressure pipe TV of the airtight part checking device is connected to a pressure detecting hole H opened into the intake manifold to detect the pressure therein by a pressure sensor S. The detection signal is entered from the sensor into a discriminator circuit J, which compares the pressure fluctuation in the intake manifold with a predetermined reference level during the cranking drive of the engine to discriminate the degree of abnormality. The result of the discrimination is displayed by an indicating circuit 4
