Abstract

PURPOSE: To prepare a block copolymer having improved transparency, scarcely causing whitening, by copolymerizing ethylene with propylene in the presence of propylene polymer, prepared in the presence of a catalyst containing TiCl3, and hydrogen.
CONSTITUTION: Propylene is copolymerized with 0W3wt% of other olefins in the presence of a catalyst consisting of TiCl3 and an organometallic compound, and, if necessary, and electron donor, having a polymerization activity of 2,000g/g-TiCl3/hr or more up to the range of polymerization conversion of 1,000W5,000g/g-TiCl3, and incorporated with a solvent to form a slurry. Ethylene and propylene in a molar ratio of 1:3W10:1 are fed to the slurry in the presence of 50mole% or more of hydrogen in the gaseous phase of the polymerizer, and copolymerized at 30W70°C until the amount of polymerized ethylene in the total polymer becomes 5W35wt%.
