Abstract

PURPOSE:To manufacture metal of any shape reasonably as well as make easier the change of width by reducing heat loss by casting a molten metal by one or more continuous casters and by sending it to hot rolling machine as the high temperature is kept. CONSTITUTION:One or more continous casters are combined with a hot rolling machine. In the case of hot strip mill, for example, slab or billet manufactured by the continous caster 1A is cut and then jointed with slab or billet from the continuous caster 1B through the transfer table 7. In the first place, the slab or billet is rolled to a definite width by the edger rolling machine 8, then reduced its thickness by the horizontal rolling machine 9, and lastly coiled by the coiler 18 through the edger rolling machine 10 and the horizontal rolling machines 11 to 17. The method is applicable to rolling machines for wire, bar, molded steel, etc., and can provide easily molded metals of variously desired dimensions by saving energy.
