Abstract
PURPOSE: To increase tetrahydroalkylanthraquinone (THAQ) oxidation speed and raise the H2O2 content of a working soln. using THAQ as a reaction medium by adding a tert. amine with above a specified pKa value to the soln. followed by repeated hydrogenation and O2 oxidation.
CONSTITUTION: THAQ as a reaction medium, e.g. tetrahydro-2-ethyl-anthraquinone is dissolved in a water-immiscible solvent such as benzene. To this working soln. is added 0.01W0.20 mol/l of a tert. amine of pKa≥9, e.g. trimethylamine. The amine-added soln. is then repeatedly subjected to hydrogenation in the presence of hydrogenation catalyst such as colloidal platinum and 02 oxidation to manufacture an aq. soln. of H2O2. The hydrogenation and O2 oxidation are carried out at 0W80°C and 0W35°C, respectively. Higher O2 partial press. and shorter oxidation time produce better effects in the oxidation.
