Abstract

PURPOSE: To provide a permanent magnet with high coercive force which magnet consists of powder obtd. by coating the surfaces of 2-17 type rare earth element- transition metal cpd. particles with different ferromagnetic substance layers and of a resin or nonmagnetic metal.
CONSTITUTION: The surfaces of particles of a magnetic cpd. of the formula (where R is a rare earth element, M is Co, Fe, Ni or Cu and z=6.5W8.8) are coated with ferromagnetic substance layers made of oxides of Fe, Co, Ni, etc. The resulting powder is mixed with below 50 vol% of a resin such as epoxy resin or a nonmagnetic metal or alloy with a m.p. below 800°C, and the mixt. is molded to obtain a permanent magnet.
