Abstract

PURPOSE: To obtain a metal or alloy into which graphite is uniformly dispersed by the procedure in which a metal powder or alloy powder is mixed with graphite powder and then the mixture is added to a molten base metal or alloy.
CONSTITUTION: Electrolytic copper powder, for example, as a metal powder is mixed with graphite powder, and then the mixture is added to a Cu-Ti molten alloy, for example, as a base alloy put in a crucible, where the mixture added is soon dissolved in the molten alloy and the graphite is uniformly dispersed into the molten alloy. Thus, a graphite-dispersed metal or alloy can be manufactured with lesser numbers of processes in a shorter time at lower cost.
