Abstract

PURPOSE: To enable an operator to perform keying operation with both hands placed at fixed positions, by inputting "kana" character (Japanese syllabary) information making use of the combination of the kind of a finger touching a keyboard and a contact position on the keyboard.

CONSTITUTION: Contact plate is sectioned into four, pressure sensitive switch element 3 is fitted to each section part, and depressing contact plate 1 by a finger transmits a signal. Further, an operator wears on fingers of both hands fingerstall-shaped units with fixed contacts and depressing the contact plate at a finger tip operate the contact, so that a signal will be sent out. As for vowels, a signal to be transmitted depends upon the kind of a finger: a thumb expresses "A", an index finger expresses "I", and the operation by the both at the same time means "A". As for consonants, the discrimination is made by contact positions on the contact plate and the number of fingers thouching at the same time. In case of "s", for example, the thumb should come in contact with the 1st quadrant position of the right-hand contact plate. In case of "d", on the other hand, the thumb and index finger both come in contact with the same position of the cntact plate at the same time. Consequently, "kana" characters can all be inputt making use of the comibnations of the kinds of fingers and positions of the contact plate.
