Abstract
1306262 Valves NATIONAL DUST COLLECTOR CORP 15 May 1970 [16 June 1969] 23740/70 Heading F2V [Also in Division F4] Gas-tight sealing of a flow path within a substantially rectangularly sectioned housing 88, which housing is disposed between flow conduits 82, 84, is effected by means of a rectangular and pivoted closure member 120 which has a trough 136 formed along its periphery and which is movable between a housing- closed position, shown in full lines, and a housing-open position, shown in chain-dotted lines, by means of a double-acting piston and cylinder unit 108 acting through a lever 114 on the valve member pivot 122. When in the housing-closing position, a skirt 142, 144, which extends inwardly and downwardly from the housing interior wall, protrudes into the trough and a dispensing valve 146 feeds water over the skirt and into the trough thereby creating the desired seal. When retracted to the housing-open position, the valve member is entirely accommodated within a recessed portion 92 of the housing 88. In a modification (Fig. 3, not shown), the valve housing is connected at one end to two parallel supply conduits and at its other end to one outlet conduit and the valve member pivot is disposed at the one end of the housing and between the two supply conduits. Sealing of either one of the two inlet conduits by the one valve member is facilitated by providing each conduit with a skirt and the valve member with two peripheral troughs arranged back-to-back.
