Abstract

PURPOSE:To reduce the consumption of a toner by a latent image forming method wherein, in an exposure process, only odd-numbered dots can be turned ON/OFF and even-numbered dots are all turned OFF in the dot train of the first line, and only even-numbered dots can be turned ON/OFF and odd- numbered dots are all turned OFF in the dot train of the second line. CONSTITUTION:A white circle 1 represents a dot in an exposure OFF state, and a black circle 2 represents a dot in an exposure ON state. In the first line, odd-numbered dots can be turned ON/OFF correspondingly to an image, and even-numbered dots are all turned OFF independently of the image. In the second line, even-numbered dots can be turned ON/OFF correspondingly to the image, and odd-numbered dots are all turned OFF independently of the image. In the succeeding lines, the aforesaid processing is repeated to form a latent image. Therefore, without deteriorating the image to a great extent, the number of dots to be exposed to light can be reduced to approximately one half of that in a latent image forming method in which all dots of the dot train of a line can be turned ON/OFF. Thus, the consumption of a toner can be reduced.

Conventional electrophotographic printers create ml images by allowing exposure to be turned on and off for all dots printed. [Problems to be Solved by the Invention] - The conventional electrophotographic printer mentioned above is capable of turning on and off the exposure of the dots to be printed.2. b. All the dots forming the K-shape are exposed, toner adheres to all the exposed dots, and the toner is consumed even in the case of trial printing.

During exposure, the electrophotographic printer of the present invention turns on only the odd-numbered dots in the dot row for the first line.
It is possible to turn off, and all even numbered dots are exposed as off, and for the second line, only the even numbered dots in the dot row are on.
It has a mode in which all odd-numbered dots are exposed as off-0T, and the above process is repeated from the next line to create a latent image. [Example] Next, the present invention will be described with reference to the drawings.

For the line, only the even-numbered dots in the dot row can be turned on or off, and all the odd-numbered dots are exposed as off.
From the next line onwards, by repeating the above steps to improve the latent image, the image will be much more distorted than if the latent image was created by allowing all the tots in the line's dot row to be turned on and off. It is possible to reduce the number of exposed dots by about half without reducing toner consumption.
