Decorative boards are often used on the surfaces of indoor walls, ceilings, and the sides of tables. Decorative boards, like other ordinary board materials, are originally flat and cannot be bent. Therefore, when decorative boards are used on walls, etc., they have to be flat, and as a result, there are significant restrictions in terms of design. In an attempt to eliminate these problems with decorative boards, attempts have been made to make them flexible so that they can be bent, thereby creating a curved wall surface.

The one shown in FIG. 1 is one in which a large number of thin plates 2 each having a trapezoidal cross section are adhered to a flexible sheet 1 in parallel to form a plate. The conventional method for producing this decorative board is to first attach the flexible sheet 1 to the back surface of the material board 3, and then to attach the flexible sheet 1 to the front surface of the material board 3 at relatively narrow intervals, as shown in FIG. A large number of grooves 4 are cut in parallel. (FIG. 2B) Then, this product is made by pasting the thin plates 2 on the flexible sheet 1 in parallel, and a decorative effect is exhibited in the grooves 4, resulting in a decorative plate. At the same time, since the thin plates 2 adjacent to each other sandwich the grooves 4 and bend, the entire structure becomes flexible and curves in a direction parallel to the grooves 4. By the way, as mentioned above, this decorative board is made by cutting the grooves 4 in the material plate 3, and this work has to be done one by one using a chip saw, etc., so the workability is extremely low, and the grooves are not easy to cut. Material plate 3 is placed on the cutting surface of 4.
Since the wood of the material is exposed and the strength of the thin board 2 is significantly lower than that of the original material board 3, the material board 3 is subject to material restrictions. In other words, coarse materials such as plywood and lauan are completely unsuitable for use. In particular, it is necessary to cut the grooves 4 accurately to a depth that reaches the adhesive surface of the flexible sheet 1.
It is not possible to cut the material in this way due to variations in the thickness of the material and mechanical fluctuations of the cutting device, so the material may be too shallow or too deep. Of course, if this is too shallow, a part of the board 3 will remain at the bottom of the groove 4 as an uncut part, and this will integrally connect the adjacent thin boards 2, so the decorative board is not flexible. It won't bend, and if you try to bend it forcibly, that part will tear and look ugly. On the other hand, if the depth is too deep, the flexible sheet 1 will be cut.
This results in the decorative plate being destroyed.

The present invention is an improvement on the conventional method described above, in which a sheet having some cushioning properties is attached to a material plate, and the sheet is molded into a mold having a large number of parallel protrusions with relatively sharp edges. The material is pressed from the side of the board using a ridge, and only the material board is divided by the protrusions to form thin boards, thereby making a flexible decorative board.

The present invention will be specifically explained below based on the drawings. First, the sheet 12 is attached to the back surface of the material plate 11. Next, the material plate 11 is pressed from the front side using a mold 14 having a large number of parallel protrusions 13 formed on the pressing surface, and a large number of parallel grooves 16 are formed in the material plate 11 by the protrusions 13. In this case, the plate material 11 is divided into individual thin plates 15 by press-fitting the protruding ridges 13 until their edges reach the sheet 12, and the thin plates 15 are compressed and deformed following the shape of the protruding ridges 13. . (See Figure 3B) Therefore, the edges of the protrusions 13 are made sharp so that they can easily penetrate into the board 11. On the other hand, the board 11 is made of rough wood such as plywood or lauan wood that is not compressively deformed. Materials that are easy to use are selected. The sheet 12 is used to maintain the connection between the divided thin plates 15 when the plate material 11 is divided into thin plates 15 in the press operation, thereby maintaining the plate state. Therefore, the sheet 12 is required to at least not be divided by the protrusions 13 when the plate material 11 is pressed, and for example, to have an appropriate thickness and cushioning properties, and to have no protrusions. A material that absorbs and relieves the pressure exerted by the edges of the strips 13 is selected. When the sheet material 11 is pressed to form a product decorative board, the sheet 12 becomes a part of the structure. Therefore, the sheet 12 is selected to have the tensile strength and tear strength required for a decorative board, as well as appropriate flexibility so that adjacent thin plates can be bent using the sheet 12 as a hinge. Furthermore, if the decorative board is to be attached to a wall or the like, a board with excellent adhesiveness and durability is selected. Note that the sheet 12 does not need to have all of the above-mentioned properties at the time it is attached to the back surface of the material plate 11. For example, first, a material with high cushioning properties is pasted, and after pressing the plate material 11, a reinforcing sheet with excellent tensile strength etc. is pasted on top of the sheet 12, or the sheet 12 is peeled off from the thin plate 15, and then the sheet 12 is pressed. There is no problem even if a reinforcing sheet is attached instead of No. 12. Furthermore, the mold is not limited to a press mold as shown in FIG. In short, it is sufficient to press the plate material 11 to form a large number of parallel grooves 16 and to divide the same into thin plates 15. FIG. 4 is an example of this, and shows a roller mold 17 in which a large number of parallel protrusions 13 are formed on the outer peripheral surface. This mold 17 is suitable for plate materials that are long in the left-right direction in the figure and for continuous press work.

As described in detail above, in manufacturing a flexible decorative board, the present invention first affixes a sheet having appropriate cushioning properties to the back side of a material board, and then attaches a sheet with a large number of parallel protrusions to the back of the material board. Compared to the conventional method of dividing the plates by cutting grooves, the process is extremely efficient and reliable. It can be done. In particular, since this product is formed using a press, the part A of the material plate is compressively deformed and becomes the surface layer of the thin plate 13 as shown in Fig. 4, so the material of the thin plate 13 is compared to the raw material. This makes it extremely dense and durable, and this makes it possible to use coarse wood such as plywood or lauan for the raw material, making it extremely inexpensive. It has the advantage of being able to produce high-quality products.
