In the figure, 1 indicates a print head, and the print head 1 performs recording on a recording paper 2 based on image signals indicating black and white pixels. A sensor 3 is provided in the area where the recording paper 2 is set, and when the sensor 3' detects "white", it outputs an L level signal, and when "white" cannot be detected, it outputs an L level signal. Outputs an H level signal. When the remaining amount of recording paper 2 becomes small (a predetermined length), it emits "black" light to the sensor 3.
There is a black line on the back. The output signal of the sensor 3 is given to the control section 4. The control unit 4 receives binary image signals corresponding to black and white pixels from means not shown, and if the signal provided by the sensor 3 is at L level, stores the image signal in the image signal memory 6 and also sends the image signal to the head drive unit. 5, and if the signal provided from the sensor 3 is at H level, the image signal is simply stored in the image signal memory 6. in this way,
The sensor 3 constitutes recording paper detection means, and the control section 4 constitutes evacuation control means. According to such a configuration, the recording paper 2
As long as the remaining amount is sufficient and no black line appears on the back side,
The control unit 4 sends the image signal, which has been stored in the image signal memory 6, to the head drive unit 5 for recording. Furthermore, when the remaining amount of the recording paper 2 is insufficient and a black line appears on the back side, the sensor 3 outputs an H-level signal, and the control unit 4 can eject the image signal by only storing the image signal. This is done for memory 6.

It is connected to the. The NCU 13 activates and restores the network via the line 19, and the modem 14 modulates and demodulates signals. Necessary data is input from the device panel 15, and necessary displays are displayed on a display (not shown) within the operation panel 15. The encoding/decoding unit 16 encodes and compresses a binary image signal corresponding to black and white using the MH method, MR method, etc., and decodes and expands it vice versa. Image signals are stored in the image signal memory 17 as needed. The recording unit 18 corresponds to the print head 1° recording paper 2 and head drive unit 5 in FIG. 1, and performs recording based on binary image signals. The fact that the sensor 3 is provided in the recording section 18 is the same as in the case of FIG.
The output of is given to cpu io.

The image signal arrives at the NCU 13 via 9. This image signal is sent from the NCtJ 13 to the modem 14, where it is demodulated. On the other hand, the CPU 10 operates according to a flowchart program stored in the main memory 11 as shown in FIG. That is, the CPU io monitors the reception of image signals via the modem 14 (101).

), if the image signal is not insufficient, the image signal stored in the image signal memory 17 is sent to the encoding/decoding section 16, where it is decoded and expanded, and the obtained binary image signal is sent to the recording section 18 for printing. (104). On the other hand, when it is detected in step 103 that the remaining amount of recording paper 2 is insufficient, the operation of sending and storing the demodulated image signal to the image signal memory 17 is continued to save the image signal (105). And CPU1
0 indicates whether the image signal is no longer being received via the modem 14 (106), and if it is being received, step 1 is executed.
The operations from step 02 to step 105 are continued, and the series of operations ends when the image signal reception is completed.
