[Prior Art] Conventionally, in rotating electric machines equipped with brushes, in order to prevent damage to the commutator surface due to excessive wear of the brushes, when the wear of the brushes reaches a permissible limit, the brush pressing springs become ineffective. Visual detection methods are used, such as placing marks on brushes and pigtails.

However, in this brush wear detection method, in order to check the degree of wear of the brushes, it is necessary to frequently stop and check the rotating electric machine. This confirmation work is done by removing the inspection lid and visually inspecting it, and if it is close to the allowable limit, it is replaced, but it must be done within the limited maintenance inspection time, so there is no chance of accidentally damaging the brush when removing it. Not only is there a risk that the contact surface with the commutator surface may hit unevenly or the brush is inserted in the wrong direction, but if inspection is delayed due to neglect or forgetfulness, the commutator may become damaged. There is also a risk that the damage will progress and the repair range will increase, making maintenance time even longer.

In this way, the mover attached to the brush holder operates sequentially depending on the degree of wear of the brush, and the information is displayed on the display section of the terminal box of the rotating electric machine. This not only eliminates the need for regular maintenance inspections such as investigating the marks placed on brushes and pigtails to detect the wear limit of brushes, as well as visual monitoring of the amount of wear, but also eliminates the need for inspection lids that occur during inspection work. This eliminates the need to attach and detach the brush from the brush holder, and prevents damage to the brush due to attachment and detachment from the brush holder, poor contact with the commutator surface,
Problems such as incorrect attachment can be solved. Furthermore, it is possible to reduce the number of maintenance personnel and maintenance time required to perform the above-mentioned work. Furthermore, if you forget to replace the product even after the set time has elapsed after the alarm display occurs, the time-limited relay in the protection circuit will operate, and the relay built into the protection circuit will operate to stop the rotating electrical machine. Damage to the commutator surface due to forgetting the replacement work can be prevented, and the life of the rotating electric machine can be extended.

As described above, according to the first invention, in the brush wear detection device that is attached to a brush holder and detects brush wear, an insulating plate is provided on the side surface of the brush holder and is fixed to the insulating plate. By providing a contact point, and providing a mover with one side penetrating the side surface of the brush holder and the insulating plate, the tip of which is pressed against the side surface of the brush, and the contact portion of the other side opposed to the fixed contact, it is possible to Since the degree of wear of the brush is detected during the life of the brush, it is possible to obtain a brush wear detection device that can accurately and timely detect the wear of the brush.

Further, according to the second invention, by providing a display section that displays the signal detected by the brush wear detection device, the brush wear can be detected without the need for maintenance personnel to remove the inspection lid or the like for inspection. Since the degree can be checked accurately and at the right time,
It is possible to obtain a brush wear display device that allows the wear degree of the brush to be easily known.

Furthermore, according to the third invention, by providing a protection circuit in which the signal detected by the brush wear detection device is inputted via a time relay, it is possible to prevent the brush wear from exceeding the allowable limit due to the maintenance personnel's negligence. Since the rotating electric machine can be stopped even if it exceeds the limit, it is possible to obtain a commutator protection device that can prevent damage to the commutator and long-term operation stoppage of the rotating electric machine.
