In such conventional steering wheels, the core material in the rim part is molded from highly elastic reinforced resin, and the outer cover is molded from soft resin, and the core material is changed from metal to resin. The purpose was to reduce the weight by replacing it with a new one.

At this time, on the outer peripheral side of the rim portion 9, the rim core metal 3 is directly joined to the inner side of the covering 6, so that the rim portion 9 feels hard to the touch. Therefore, when the palm of the hand touches the outer circumferential side of the rim portion 9, which has a hard feel, a sense of stability can be obtained when operating the steering wheel.

As described above, the soft palm of the hand touches the outer circumferential side of the rim part 9, which has a hard feel, and the hard fingertips touch the inner circumferential side of the rim part 9, which has a soft feel, so the rim part 9 feels good when gripped. . Therefore, by providing stable operability and a good feel, fatigue is reduced during long-distance driving.

However, as shown in FIG. 6, the cross section may be substantially L-shaped. Also, the seventh
As shown in the figure, the rim core metal 3 may be embedded in the soft member 10. The point is that the center section of the rim core metal 3 is concave toward the outer circumference, and
The soft member 10 may be disposed on the inner peripheral side of the rim core metal 3 so as to form a substantially circular cross section with the rim core metal 3.

You can. By doing so, when the user grips the rim portion 9, a soft feel can be obtained even on the upper surface side of the rim portion 9 where the thumb touches.

According to the present invention, the rim core metal has a shape in which the central part of the cross section is depressed toward the outer periphery, and a soft member that is softer than the covering made of soft synthetic resin of the rim portion is provided on the inner periphery of the rim core metal. As a result, the rim core metal has sufficient impact resistance and is lightweight, and when you grip the rim, it feels harder on the outer periphery and softer on the inner periphery. Therefore, the soft palm of the hand hits the outer circumference of the rim, giving a sense of stability when operating the steering wheel, and the hard fingertips touch the inner circumference of the rim, giving a good feel when gripping the steering wheel. In addition, since the rim core metal has a shape in which the central part of the cross section is concave toward the outer circumference, it is easy to manufacture when forming the rim core metal into a ring shape along the rim shape, and the rim core metal Connection with the spoke core metal can also be made easier.
