(低炭素フェロクロムの製造方法)
(自焼成電極)
(自焼成電極用の電極ペースト)
図1の製造工程図に従って低炭素フェロクロムを製造した。電気炉の電極に自焼成電極を使用した。表2には、自焼成電極の諸元を示す。
自焼成電極のケース電流密度がケースの溶断と電極ペーストの焼成に及ぼす影響を試験した。表3に示すように、電極直径が60cm、70cm、80cmのいずれの場合でも、ケース電流密度が400A/cm2を超えると、ケースの溶断が発生した。これに対し、ケース電流密度が400A/cm2以下であると、ケースの溶断が発生しなかった。ただし、ケース電流密度が100A/cm2に近づくと、電極ペーストの焼成がやや不足した。
自焼成電極の電極電流密度が電極ペーストの焼成に及ぼす影響を試験した。表4に示すように、電極電流密度が4.0A/cm2未満であると、電極ペーストの焼成が不足し、自焼成電極に中抜けが発生した。電極電流密度が4.0A/cm2以上8.0A/cm2以下であると、電極ペーストの焼成は良好であり、自焼成電極に中抜けも発生しなかった。電極電流密度が8.0A/cm2を超えると、電極ペーストが過焼成となり、自焼成電極に中折れが発生した。
電極ペーストを自焼成電極のケースに装入し、焼成した。表5には、電極ペーストの緒元を示す。

Claims (4)
- 筒状のケースに電極ペーストを充填し、通電によって発生するジュール熱と電気炉からの伝導熱によって前記電極ペーストを焼成固化することによって形成される自焼成電極であって、
ケース電流密度を100A/cm2以上400A/cm2以下に設定し、
前記自焼成電極を低炭素フェロクロム製造用電気炉の電極として用いる自焼成電極。 - 前記自焼成電極の電極電流密度を4.0A/cm2以上8.0A/cm2以下に設定することを特徴とする請求項1に記載の自焼成電極。
- 前記ケースの厚みを2.0mmよりも大きく5.0mm以下にすることを特徴とする請求項1又は2に記載の自焼成電極。
- 前記自焼成電極のリブの幅/電極半径を0.1以上0.8以下にすることを特徴とする請求項1ないし3のいずれか一項に記載の自焼成電極。
